Piazza Pertinace is one of the pulsating hearts of Alba’s historical centre: the name of the square is a tribute to the Roman Emperor Publio Elvio Pertinace, whose bust can be admired in the centre of the square.

Marro’s House, Riva’s House-Tower and other historical buildings surround the square. The remains of the roman temple dedicated to the Capitoline triad Jupiter, Juno and Minerva and extending with the front until the current Piazza Risorgimento (the ancient roman forum) raise in front of the church. In the past the square hosted the market of silkworms and little animals, while today it hosts the “Earth Market” and it’s the window of St. John’s Workshops Association.
